Opt In Email Advertising

The advertising field has increased its span. The advertisements are used to reach people in order to promote a particular product or service. Various mediums are used for the promotion, such as TV, newspaper, radio or poster ads. Out of these the internet advertising is catching the root as many people the use internet. Many of the companies send their ads on emails addresses of people. This way they can reach every individual with an email ID. However the people that they are promoting the product or service put the advertisements into spam or bulk. This means that either the advertisement won’t be able to appear in the inbox from next time or the advertisement is sent to the bulk instead of the inbox. This way the efforts to promote a product go in vain.

In this, the user has to choose between rejecting and accepting the advertisement. If the user chooses to accept the advertisement, he will get all the business newsletters, new product announcements and coupons from a particular company. In this way the efforts of the company on advertisement are not wasted.

How Opt- in email advertisement works: To make an opt in email advertisement there is a target provided on the website. Generally the target for clicking is created on the host website. The host website can be owned by the company itself or can be any other website. The "opt in" target offers options to register with the website. In the registration the user or the client displays his email address. Then he agrees to receive all types of advertisements generated by that company. Some of the targets have two options. The user may receive a plain message or he may receive the business newsletters on his email address. Once the user agrees to receive the advertisements he cannot spam the advertisement. However the users can opt- out of these advertisements at any moment.

Advantages of opt in email advertisement: The email advertisement in an opt in category has a better impact than the regular type of advertisement. Since the user himself chooses to view the advertisement the product is directly promoted to the individual. It is more effective than telemarketing. Opt in method is cost effective rather than any other promotion type. Even the door to door sale of the product requires commission of the salesman. In telemarketing the company pays huge amounts on long distance calls. The results from these are not necessarily satisfying. The charges for the “opt in” target creation are still lesser than any other type.

Drawback of Opt In Email Advertising: Though the probability of results is similar to other promotion types, this philosophy is quicker and simpler than others. The expenses involved are less. Some of the companies face a reputation crisis as the email addresses are not necessarily used with the owner's concern. The companies simply harvest the email IDs and sell them over to various companies. This way even if the owner of the email ID has not agreed to receive the advertisements he is forced to do so.
